IAM on the Road: Celebrating Illinois and America250 in 2026

Illinois is a state shaped by its roads, highways, and byways — pathways that connect communities, history, and culture across the Land of Lincoln. In 2026, we’re embracing that spirit by taking our Annual Conference on the road!

Instead of a single statewide gathering, IAM on the Road will bring museum professionals together through a series of single-day events hosted in communities across Illinois. These events are part of our celebration of America250, honoring the stories, sites, and people that make our state unique.

️What to Expect

Each IAM on the Road event will include:

• Morning Sessions (8:30 AM – Noon):

Regional museum colleagues will gather for professional development, networking, and collaborative learning.

• Afternoon Showcase (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM):

The public is invited to experience A Taste of Museums, where local institutions share exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities that highlight their special sites and stories.

Looking Ahead

Our traditional Annual Conference will return in future years. But for 2026, we invite you to hit the road with us — to learn, connect, and celebrate the vibrant museum landscape of Illinois.
