Mary Helen Turner Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002, the Illinois Association of Museums Scholarship Fund became the Mary Helen Turner Scholarship Fund in 2007 to honor IAM’s founding director. This fund allows IAM members to attend professional museum training of many types. Each year the IAM Board designates specific scholarship money to help defray professional development costs for museum staff and volunteers. Applicants must either work (or volunteer) for an IAM member institution or be individual members of IAM.
Applicants from small museums with limited budgets, professionals or volunteers who can prove economic need and/or professionals new to the field receive funding preferences.
Scholarships awarded through this Fund may be used to pay registration fees, lodging, and travel expenses to attend IAM approved meetings or workshops. The application process is competitive and the IAM scholarship committee reserves the right to determine if awards will be designated for registration fees, lodging and/or travel expenses.
The Illinois Associations of Museums Board is pleased to offer funding again in 2016. Three scholarships will be available to attend the IAM Annual Conference in Oak Park.
Applicants must supply a completed application form by clicking the link at the top of this page. A one-page statement outlining how this conference will benefit the applicant and/or his/her institution along with a statement of need is also required.
