Peoria Playhouse Children's Museum

Monticello Education Intern (paid)
Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum, a facility of the Peoria Park District

Peoria, IL

The Monticello Intern will participate in creation and implementation of education programming. In particular, the intern will have responsibility for a PlayHouse Education Program. For 2017-18 we recommend that the internship focus on the PlayHouse’s expanding school programs, which would include communication with teachers and field trip booking; preparing for and facilitating selected field trips; assisting with related volunteer training; work with the Education Manager to order needed supplies; and conducting evaluation and making recommendations for program improvements. Applicants must be female, due to the requirements of the Monticello College Foundation, which is funding this internship. Applicants must also have a college degree, a demonstrated interest in the museum field, and experience in formal or informal education.

This is a paid, year-long internship, with a stipend of $15,000, to be paid in bi-weekly increments for a contract term of 52 weeks (August 21, 2017 – August 17, 2018). The intern will work at the PlayHouse 4 days a week for approximately 29 hours per week; this may include some evening and weekend hours. The fifth day each week is designated as a training/learning day to explore museum related topics; this may include some travel (there is a small travel budget for this intern).
