Visitor Services Associate —Part Time

Greets and manages guest entry and access to the Lincoln Park Conservatory

Hours: Flexible, 10-20 hours / week

Organization Background
Established in 1984 as a nonprofit partner of the Chicago Park District, the Lincoln Park  Conservancy's mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance Lincoln Park's art, architecture, and  nature for all. We take on projects that benefit the park, the public, and the environment. We provide educational and engagement opportunities, including restoration, management, advocacy,  and stewardship programs throughout Chicago's largest and most visited park.

Job Description
The Lincoln Park Conservancy seeks a part-time Visitor Services/Event Associate to oversee visitor  access, check-in, and management to the historic Lincoln Park Conservatory. Additionally, this  position supports onsite events at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool including on evenings and weekends.  Part of this job also includes administrative tasks as needed.
Key Position Responsibilities

  • greet and assist all visitors entering the Conservatory
  • check visitors in via EventBrite and confirm visitor attendance data
  • inform visitors of safety guidelines for Covid19 while on Conservatory property • invite visitors to make a donation if they have not done so in advance online • promote Conservancy membership, programs, and donations
  • be knowledgeable of, and promote programs and events at the Conservatory
  • participate in trainings about the history of the building, the plant collection, heritage  interpretation, and special exhibitions when invited
  • check and respond to general email, phone inquiries related to the Conservatory and  Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool
  • assist with event set up, guest access and support, and event breakdown for events at the  Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool during peak season (June-September)

Due to Covid19

  • a mask must be worn at all times during a shift
  • appropriate PPE will be provided, including a Plexiglas shield at the check-in desk
  • a symptom screener must be submitted prior to start of assigned shift


Candidate must be available on evenings, Saturdays, and/or Sundays. Ideal candidate will enjoy and  excel at direct service and customer service and be at ease working with people who may be under  stress, and have a clean, professional appearance. The position requires lifting up to 30 lbs., a desire  
to work both indoors and outdoors, and a love of parks and nature. Ideal candidate will be proficient  in Microsoft Office software and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working in a museum or park setting is highly desirable.
