Programs and School Services Coordinator

This is a full time professional management position responsible for involving Elmhurst residents and the general public in learning about and contributing to the City’s history through all aspects of educational programming at EHM and Churchville One Room School. The Programs and School Services Coordinator assures excellence for a wide range of audiences who will engage their lives with the history of our community through experiences associated with Elmhurst History Museum. The position also directs interpretive programming at Churchville One Room School including first-person portrayal of a circa 1910 school teacher. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Museum Director.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Degree in museum studies, education, or related field preferred.

* Three or more years of experience in museum educational services including community oriented programming and event planning.

* Knowledge of the theory, practice, and principles of museum education and public programming best practices for program development.

* Communication skills necessary to establish relationships with a variety of museum stakeholders.

* Organizational and leadership skills necessary to develop new programs and attract new support within the community.

* Experience in the evaluation of educational programs in museum settings.

* Knowledge of Elmhurst history, Illinois history and American history necessary to make appropriate judgments about cultural interpretation for programming services.

* Knowledge of historical methodologies.

* Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

* Grant writing experience a plus.

* Valid driver’s license
