The Executive Director implements the mission and policies established by the Board of Directors and has overall responsibility to establish and sustain all aspects of Ellwood House Association, Inc., including the institution’s mission and vision, fiscal and operational integrity, and standards of exhibition, collections management, and excellence in education. The Executive Director represents the Association in external affairs. With the Board of Directors, the Executive Director develops the annual budget and establishes strategies to meet the Ellwood House Association’s future and ongoing financial requirements.

Deep knowledge of and professional experience in the visual arts, historic preservation, and the principles and practices of museum and nonprofit administration; proven experience and expertise in fund development; excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in computer and electronic media skills.

Minimum of five years of experience as an Executive Director or senior level staff within a museum, arts and/or cultural institution; proven record as successful fundraiser; visionary, innovative thinker, and leader.

Master’s degree or higher preferred in the fields of Museum Studies, Public History, Historic Preservation, Art History, History, or related field.

Finalist will be required to successfully complete a background check.

Must be available to work some weekends, evenings, and during special events.

Salary Range: $62,000 - $75,000, annually

Benefits: Vacation pay, sick pay, SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer contribution. $5,000 stipend provided for employee’s own health insurance.
