Education Specialist

Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, Illinois is dedicated to hands-on learning in the arts and sciences
through more than 300 exciting exhibits spread over two floors and an award winning outdoor
Discovery Park. We serve children, parents, and educators from the Rockford region and beyond
through both Museum visits and outreach programs.

Education Specialist, Full Time, Exempt

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

Responsible for educational content of programs, classes, outreach, teacher workshops, exhibits.  Work
with youth volunteers to develop demonstrations, and to work in other capacities in museum.  Reports
to Executive Director.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains the educational mission of the museum by overseeing the development of fun,
innovative, informal and hands-on classes and programs at the museum.
2. Work with Executive Director in development and presentation of teacher training workshops
for area teachers.
3. Develop content, and teach youth STEM classes and camps.
4. Work as part of the education team with planning and implementation of public programs and
5. Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
